The Rainbow Bridge Poem

Just this side of Heaven...
is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.  There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and they are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. So Max is happy and content, except for one small thing; he misses his family, who had to be left behind. The animals all run and play together
. . . but the day comes when Max suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and Max finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress Max's beloved head. You look once more into his trusting eyes, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge...together...

Max was the biggest of the puppies (620 Gms); he was confident from the start, and could often be found sleeping away from the bustle of the others. He was dominant with his littermates, and particularly enjoyed the company of his sister, Kona.

Max had a larger head than his brothers, and showed intelligence and curiosity. His markings were beautiful, and he was a stocky, sturdy little guy.

Max has a wonderful home with our daughter Andrea and her husband, Mike; Lucy is Max's friend and housemate. They play endlessly, and Lucy teaches Max how to dig!

Max is a happy fellow; he always looks like he is smiling!

What a wonderful looking bunch of Berners! We all had a fun day, and wonder how the puppies will do in the show!

Max practices for the show with Mike. What a handsome fellow (both of them, actually!) That is Chris, Julie and Jazmine in the background, practicing "teeth"!
